N has asked why the blog is called Isha Yiras Hashem. This means, "a woman who fears G-d", and it is from Proverbs. Thank you, N. This is an excellent question. (Yes, this is the same N who assumes the gender of poultry, see the post about chickens for more on that topic.)
The source is Biblical, Proverbs 31, verse 30: "False is grace, and worthless is beauty - a woman who fears G-d, she shall be praised!"
Proverbs' description of the proverbial woman of valor is quite interesting, and you should look it up. Jews traditionally sing the last part of the chapter, each Friday night. (Known as Eshes Chayil, in Hebrew. People never seem to sing it in English, but you totally could.)
I have never seen a single woman on Facebook post that their partner sings a song implying that they are a Woman Of Valor at least once a week. Were it not for Eshes Chayil, most men wouldn't even think of randomly serenading their wives at the end of each week. Please note how respectful of women this is.
We need a new national holiday for celebrating femininity. We could call it -- National Woman's Day. President Biden warmly sings The Woman of Valor to Dr. Jill Biden on national television, Google makes up a doodle with pearls and business dealings and boundary setting, and women buy themselves chocolate.
Back to the blog name. Naturally, since this is the internet, I wanted this blog to get a lot of "likes", which is how you praise someone in modern times. So I labeled it "a woman who fears G-d." This should unconsciously lead you to finish the verse off in your head, "she shall be praised", and click "like" to all my posts. Or not. Comments are even better.
I agonized for a long time over whether I could call myself "a woman who fears G-d" in public. After all, I am not a perfectly righteous person who has never committed a sin, and my fear of G-d is imperfect as well. People may find my labeling myself a woman who fears God to be slightly pretentious.
However, in the modern day world, very few people brag about how much they fear God. You never see a single person on Amazon or Facebook brag about how they have better fear of God than anyone else. And you can only really be pretentious about something that makes you better than other people. I guess I am being pretentious, but at least I'm being pretentious in a purely spiritual way.
Now that I feel good about myself, time to sign off.
Tl;Dr: This blog is called Isha Yiras Hashem because I want you to like it and make comments.
Great name! Something to aspire to.
I think this name speaks to all women and represents your blog perfectly.
