Of all the ways we broadcast our political opinions, campaign bumper stickers might be the worst. Think about it: you're essentially inviting everyone who disagrees with you to hate you... while they're operating heavy machinery. Not exactly a recipe for civil discourse or safe driving.

"But this election is too important to stay silent!" I hear you cry. And you're right - it is important. That's precisely why I'm suggesting we need a better approach than turning our highways into mobile political battlegrounds.
My political position?
Prayer over propaganda.
While others are busy transforming their cars into partisan billboards and their social media into war zones, I've been working on something different: dividing up the book of Psalms between our political parties. Think of it as spiritual campaign finance reform, if you will.
It's simple really: with 150 psalms to work with, I've used artificial intelligence to randomly assign 70 to the Republicans, 70 to the Democrats, and (because even third parties need Divine intervention) 10 for the Green Party.
So, here’s how it shakes out: Psalm 1 for the Green Party, Psalm 2 for the Democrat Party, and on we go!

In times of political division, maybe what we need most isn't another campaign slogan, but a moment to participate in prayer for the future - together.
What's your preferred method of political participation? Bumper stickers, ballot boxes, or perhaps a bit of both with some Psalms thrown in?
The Goral HaGra (גורל הגר״א) is a traditional Jewish method of seeking guidance by randomly selecting a verse from the Hebrew Bible, particularly practiced by followers of the Vilna Gaon (the Gra). It’s a form of divination often used for important, difficult decisions when other avenues for clarity have been exhausted. There's also more to the Goral HaGra. The person should ideally be fasting. Rebbetzin Fastag says she's seen it work even when not fasting or not done according to all the rules.
1. Preparation: A person in need of guidance prays and meditates to focus their mind and intentions.
2. Opening the Text: They open the Bible to a random page or select a verse in a seemingly "random" way. They often use specific books or passages, depending on tradition.
3. Interpreting the Verse: The verse found is read as a message or answer to the question or situation at hand. The individual reflects on how the words might apply to their personal dilemma or challenge.
The Goral HaGra is used with respect and only for serious matters, as it is believed to invoke divine insight or providence. While not commonly practiced today, it holds a respected place in Jewish history as a spiritual tool for discerning guidance in times of need.
I know which ones I need to read 😉
😂 this is creative!
