To be fair, you don't need to convince the biblical critics of anything if you want to bring about world peace-only the Muslims and Christians, who already agree with you. More people should emphasize our commonalities with each other instead of looking for things to fight about.
Great post!! Send it to some of our OTD friends. But beware: they’re smarter than us, and they will leave you speechless just because they are smarter than us. Does that make sense?
I would disagree on one point: however they describe the archeology that they discovered does not discount the actual discoveries themselves. When I first came to Israel nearly 40 years ago, I was blown away by archeology. You mean the mikvas on top of Masada are the EXACT SAME MEASUREMENTS as you and I (used to) go to! Is that crazy exciting , or what?
I dunno. They argue like real Bnei Torah (meaning, it is in their bones, even though it’s empty of True Torah). You can’t even follow some of their arguments: either they are so convoluted, or they use secular philosophers (Sam Harris is their rebbe) whom I will not spend my time attempting to figure out. Also, they just can’t go along with anything mystical or above our consciousness. To me it is basic and FINE, that my puny brain cannot possibly fathom the Ein Sof of Hashem. They don’t like that. But whatever.
This was a pleasure to read! Funny enough, in Israeli public school,
We learned one semester of תורה שבעל פה, about Rosh Chodesh. Then the minister of education changed. By high school 10th-12th grades we were learning the Documentary Hypothesis. Until American Kirov programs taught me to read Rashi I had a very different understanding of Shavuot. Definitely still included cheesecake though.

He is a professor at Harvard. He is Catholic and he seems to believe in G-d.

Thank you! I'm glad someone saw my point!
Thank you, I'm glad someone noticed the overall point

How can I say this without being arrogant?
I have yet to meet an OTD person who is smarter than me.
I do change my mind, like now I believe the world looks old, but certainly in Bible related topics, I haven't been too impressed by what's out there.

Good Chodesh!
They are definitely not smarter than you! I've spent some time becoming familiar with their thought. So far, I'm disappointed.

That's so interesting!
