Many new subscribers discover my blog through those who have recommended me on Substack. On my blog, Rebbetzin Fastag approves all my content, and I only recommend what she endorses.
The word Jewish literally means thanker in Hebrew. So, in true Jewish fashion, I want to express my gratitude to those bloggers who have recommended me. I will write a little bit about each person. Please note:
I haven’t read every single post they have ever posted
I do not want to be blamed for anything they might say in the future.
I don't like or agree with everything they write.
This is an acknowledgement of my gratitude to them for recommending me and bringing me new readers.
Repeating for clarity: This is not an endorsement, and I take no responsibility for what you might find on their blogs. This is simply me saying thank you.
Irrationalist Modoxism
Irrationalist Modoxism was my first-ever recommender, and I found reading their posts a welcome relief after The Substack Which Shall Not Be Named.1 Unfortunately, they haven’t updated since April, which hopefully means that they’re off being a Happy Go Lucky Personage or dancing with all their might! Nevertheless, it’s worth checking out their older posts, especially if you feel disillusioned by The Substack Which Shall Not Be Named.
Philosophical Jew
Philosophical Jew is fearless in tackling profound questions.
Celestial Love Letters (Ranjit K. Sharma)
Ranjit is deeply interested in universalist spirituality and mysticism. His thoughtful comments on my posts have given me insights I wouldn’t have otherwise encountered.
John Horwitz
John Horwitz is a real person with an interesting life story. I’m grateful for his recommendation. John, I’ll keep doing my best, and not lie to you - or anyone else.
The Entrepreneurial Writer
The Entrepreneurial Writer shares advice about running your own writing business. To be honest, I haven’t read any of her posts… but she did recommend me, so I want to express my thanks!
Gunflint
I know Gunflint in real life, so I’m slightly biased. He was one of the first people to contact me and share his real name. He’s a bit hard to explain: imagine a former coal miner who mows his neighbors’ lawns for fun and is also smart and good at lots of things. He describes himself as “Like a bird on a wire, like a drunk in a midnight choir, I have tried in my way to be free.” Take that as you will.
Ehud Neor
I’d been following him for a while when Ehud caught my attention by out-punning me in a comment on my Unsong review. He said my writing is “truly baleen.” I’d like to think he meant that my writing filters out the fluff and captures the good stuff. He seems like a nice person, and he recommended me, which inspired me to write this post!
Mercenary Pen
Mercenary Pen hosts some of Will Caverly’s work. His Substack is one of the few I consistently read to the end; maybe because he writes a lot about his chickens. I do wish he'd write a little more about my interests, like Nebuchadnezzar, but he's too busy writing a book about urban planning in Philadelphia in the 1950s.
Life in Stories (Ana)
Ana lives in Brazil and shares her personal experiences of autism and ADHD, including the challenges of being misunderstood and excluded.
Rationalist Judaism
Kol HaKavod : HaKaras HaTov ! For this post above all others I recommend you and your post (not sure how to do that on the site)
