Hope you don't need to put a GPS tracker on them, lol!

Great piece of writing. I loved the digression into the insanity of health care.

I’m not really familiar with Tzaar Baalei Chaim but it’s pretty interesting to me. (Raised Catholic but recent DNA tests show some Jewish ancestry. Probably explains my sense of humor and why I randomly say words like ‘meshugganah’. ;) )

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Tzaar Baalei Chaim is all about showing kindness to G-d's creatures, and I would like in the future to write about why I think it's a more ethical alternative to utilitarianism and effective altruism but I'm not ready for the internet wars, but meanwhile I hope to start referring to it more often. And that's fascinating, what made you think of testing? It’s amazing how these little pieces of heritage can pop up in unexpected ways. We are all related and this is a reminder.

I did the testing for a cousin who is working on family genealogy. My father’s mother and father came from Poland so it really didn’t surprise me.

Thanks again for the great post!

amazing post, your grandfather was a smart man. Reminds me of someone I interviewed for my book. His father refused to get rid of his coal stove and coal heater because "you can always burn the furniture if you have to."

What's your book? His father had a point!
